LOTEC GmbH

The company

LOTEC GmbH specializes in toolmaking. With a turnover of around four million euros and 37 employees, the independently owned company based in Arnsberg in the Sauerland region operates flexibly and dynamically in the market.

With almost 50 years of experience, the company develops and manufactures high-quality tools and molds for the automotive, furniture, electrical engineering, household, and consumer goods industries.

The company was part of the Joachim Loh Group for many years, but due to its relatively small size, it received little attention from management and led a shadowy existence within the group.

The successor

Christoph Kleine, a native of the Sauerland region and family man, initially studied mechanical engineering with a focus on design before concentrating on technical business management in his master's degree. Together with a partner, he started his own business in the service sector for the first time in 2018. However, his affinity for mechanical engineering and his love of metal as a material made him want to return to working in a manufacturing company. This time, he wanted to be the owner and managing director...

The project

... and so, in mid-2020, Mr. Kleine contacted WESTFALENFINANZ GmbH and worked with Mr. Bolz to develop a search profile for his ideal company (industry, region, size, etc.).

It didn't take long for Mr. Bolz to establish contact between LOTEC and Mr. Kleine. The management of the Joachim Loh Group was open to discussions about selling the subsidiary. Mr. Kleine had everything it took: as a young, motivated entrepreneur with the right expertise in mechanical engineering and experience as a managing partner, he was the perfect fit to take over LOTEC GmbH as a management buy-in (MBI) candidate.

The acquisition

After the two parties got to know each other, it quickly became clear that the chemistry between buyer and seller was right and that both sides were keen to proceed with the transaction. After Mr. Kleine spent a few days at the company, a "streamlined" due diligence process was carried out and the financing was finalized with the accompanying bank.

As managing partner, Mr. Kleine is driving the company forward with rocket-like momentum; the new impetus is having a positive effect on many areas of the company.
